| About The Lane Tech Spirit Boosters The Spirit Boosters is not just about uniforms and flags, it's about a team and a group of girls that become friends and create long lasting friendships. This is an all-inclusive team, which means everyone gets a chance at becoming part of it! This is a team that wants people from all different walks of life to come together and make one amazing group. We teach the girls in our team how to work together to create a fantastic and well choreographed performance. We give all of our girls the skills and an example of structure and organization to help build confidence and a drive to succeed in all of them. The purpose of our team is to perform routines with the Lane Tech Marching Band and our performance is strongly based on choreography with the band's music and with our flag technique. Being a Spirit Booster takes a lot of dedication and perseverance, we are a serious team just like any other team at Lane, but we also have our fun. We are a fall and football season team. While we perform at a number of games, one of our main performances happens at our Pep Rally. We practice and create routines all throughout the summer and after the season is over we begin recruiting new girls and have tryouts which is around October-November. At these tryouts, current Spirit Boosters are there to help and assist in anyway they can. |

| So What Are Tryouts Like? The tryout process lasts about 2 weeks and we go through 2 cuts at the end of each week. The first week consists of the girls learning most of the flag moves and then trying to perfect them. At the end of the week the first cut is held (think of it as a test to see what you have learned that first week). Each girl will get a chance to perform in front of the team to show what she has learned. The second week we take what the girls have learned and then apply the new skill into learning a routine that the team has created for the purpose of the tryouts. The second and final cut is performing the routine in front of the team with as much precision as possible and with the least amount of errors. What Spirit Boosters look for at tryouts are friendly outgoing girls with a good attitude and a lot of motivation. There is no need to feel afraid of making mistakes on your first try, thats what tryouts are. We will teach the basic moves first and then move on from there to intermediate and advanced moves. You will be given sheets with the moves on them so you can practice on your own as well. REMEMBER, while there are numerous girls trying out, the idea is for YOU to stand out from the rest so DON'T BE SHY!!!! |
