Changes To The Format of Band Concerts At Lane Tech 2008-2009
Beginning in the 2008-2009 school year, there will be some changes to the format of band concerts at Lane Tech College Prep High School. These changes have come about in hopes of giving the audience members a more enjoyable concert experience and to bring respect and courtesy to the musicians and Directors who have worked very hard to put our concerts together. Some of these changes are as follows. * Ticket prices for all band concerts will be $5.00 each (5 and below who take up a seat $3.00 each) * There will be no free tickets given out * Tickets will only be available for purchase the evening of the concert. * While the audience will be able to enter through the parking lot entrance, anyone arriving late will have to walk around to the Addison Street side (back of the auditorium) enter and purchase your ticket. Late comers will also be held from entering the auditorium until one musical selection is over. * While tickets may be purchased beginning at 6:00 pm inside door "M" the auditorium doors will not be opened until 6:30 sharp. * Washrooms downstairs in the lobby (or foyer) of the auditorium will be available for use during the performance.
Concert Etiquette In most cases, the audience members of a concert see only the finished product on stage and not the long months of hard work and rehearsals that go into putting on a concert. When a concert is interrupted by yelling, cell phones, talking during the music, entering late or any other behavior that is disruptive, it is disrespectful not only to those on stage, but to other audience members as well. We ask that all audience members follow some simple guidelines that will make the concert experience more enjoyable to all involved as well as bring respect to our student musicians who have worked very hard to bring you our performances. * Please arrive at the concert on time, those coming late will need to enter on the Addison Street side and not be allowed to enter until one selection is over. * Turn off all cell phones and electronic devices before the performance. Any students caught with a cell phone on will have them taken away and given back after the concert. Any adults using a cell phone during a performance will be asked to turn them off by security. * Please refrain from calling students names who are up on stage regardless if they are a friend or relative. This is very disruptive and quite frankly rude behavior. Security will give a warning if this type of behavior exists and if it continues, the people doing it will be escorted out so others may enjoy the show. * Please refrain from talking during the performance. While you may think you are being quiet, musicians on stage can become distracted by it as the sound does carry. * No food is allowed in Lane Tech's Auditorium. * While we understand that parents often want pictures of their child on stage, please refrain from literally coming on the stage during the performance. We can always allow time after the concert for pictures. * When there is a musical selection on the program which has 2 or more movements (or sections) to it, there is often a break between these sections. Please hold applause during those breaks and wait until the entire selection is over before applauding. * The balcony at Lane is closed off and would only be open for overflow. Please do not go into Lane's balcony during the performance. It is our goal to make our concerts an enjoyable experience for everyone both on stage as well as in the audience. By following a few simple rules of etiquette, we feel we can achieve that goal. We thank you for your cooperation and hope to see you soon
